  • Vivaldi Four Seasons: Winter , complete. Cynthia Freivogel & Voices of Music RV 297 4K

Vivaldi Winter! The complete concerto performed on original instruments. Please subscribe to our channel
Vivaldi's Concerto for violin and strings in F Minor, Winter (L'Inverno, RV 297), the original version is best! Cynthia Miller Freivogel, baroque violin and the award winning Early Music ensemble Voices of Music.
    Q. What are period instruments or original instruments; how are they different from modern instruments?
    A. As instruments became modernized in the 19th century, builders and players tended to focus on the volume of sound and the stability of tuning. Modern steel strings replaced the older materials, and instruments were often machine made. Historical instruments, built individually by hand and with overall lighter construction, have extremely complex overtones—which we find delightful. Modern instruments are of course perfectly suited to more modern music.
Voices of Music is creating a worldwide digital library of music videos, recordings and editions, free for anyone in the world. To support this vital project, which will enable new generations of people all around the world to enjoy Classical music, please consider a tax-deductible donation or sponsor a recording project. With your help, anything is possible!

Voices of Music continues our groundbreaking work as a pioneer in the new field of Ultra-High definition video. Although the Four Seasons is the most recorded work in Classical music, this is the first time that the work is made freely available in this format, and performed on period instruments. Your donations will keep the presses running!

  • Chopin - Nocturne op.9 No.2

Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, No. 2
    Played by Vadim Chaimovich (

Vincent van Gogh painted The Starry Night one year before dying.
Chopin composed his popular Nocturne when he was about twenty.
it does not matter if you think that it is too late for you or that you still have a lot of have to decide whether you are Chopin or van Gogh.

The idea behind these videos is coming from a research published by the Psychology Department of Berkeley University studying the relation between colors, emotions and how external stimuli are impacting decision making.

The study results demonstrate a strong correlation between faster music in minor tone and the choice from participants of colors from that were saturated, yellower and lighter whereas a slower and minor music produced the opposite pattern (choice of desaturated, darker and bluer colors).

Based on these findings, we wanted to create synesthesia in our videos and trigger more intense and long-lasting emotions in our viewers, get higher audience retention and interaction. We decided to do that by associating drawings from the major painters that were following the scientific findings of this research.
The choice of these paintings and the consecutive association with the music is also based on an accurate work that requires significant time and energy.

The analysis of the melodies returned to us a lot of information on how the painting should have been made. We needed a simple blue pattern but with an intrinsic meaning. Something that people could watch for a while without really understand it.

By creating this video I tried to do only one thing which turned to be the most difficult one: make you feel an emotional synesthesia.
When hearing the melody, don't you feel that everything aren’t you lost in the sky? is your mind going over? It’s not for no reason.
it is not only an image, it is not only a melody. It is a trip.
You don't feel bored. Its your mind using the notes and the colors to create your own experience.

Most of the videos online with only one image are only music, but not this.

The research behind the perfect combination is the key for the unconscious.

    The research:
Music–color associations are mediated by emotion

Stephen E. Palmer, Karen B. Schloss, Zoe Xu, and Lilia R. Prado-León

This popular nocturne is in rounded binary form (A, A, B, A, B, A) with coda, C. The A and B sections become increasingly ornamented with each recurrence. The penultimate bar utilizes considerable rhythmic freedom, indicated by the instruction, senza tempo (without tempo). Nocturne in E-flat major opens with a legato melody, mostly played piano, containing graceful upward leaps which becomes increasingly wide as the line unfolds. This melody is heard again three times during the piece. With each repetition, it is varied by ever more elaborate decorative tones and trills. The nocturne also includes a subordinate melody, which is played with rubato.

  • Unravel - Tokyo Ghoul OP Piano

5 years have passed and my piano arrangement of unravel has reached 70 Million views already. Ever since then, the name Animenz has been often associated with that unravel cover guy on the internet and to be honest, until today I am still surprised why this particular video has exploded in popularity (笑)

Back then, this piano arrangement were just one among many anime piano cover videos I was uploading during my Conservatory years in Germany. There were many different piano covers of unravel on YouTube already but most of them were only covering the TV-size version, not the full song.

At that time, I was practicing many technically difficult classical pieces (Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninoff, among many others) and this might explain the extreme difficulty level of this piano arrangement, compared to my usual arrangements. It is basically full with very risky jumps and super fast arpeggios. Especially the particular guitar riff arpeggio at 02:21 is probably the fastest arpeggio I have ever attempted.

It easily belongs to my top 3 most difficult transcriptions I ever made, among My Dearest and Kuusou Mesorogiwi and I doubt I will ever make something as frustratingly difficult as this again. To master this piece you need a very good left hand and right hand coordination. There are many complicated rhythms in this piece and the only way to properly memorize them all is by repeatedly practicing it again and again in half speed.

Especially the octave melody in 00:35 is often called THE WALL, because most people just give up practicing the song at this point. Even today, I make occasional mistakes when playing this part, because you have to do huge jumps with both of your hands at the same time. Since I can only focus on one hand only at each time, the other hand have to manage the jump completely blindly by sheer muscle memory alone. It is indeed frustrating to learn and I am seriously wondering myself, how I even managed to play this entire song in only one continuous take back then.

In hindsight, if I would arrange this song again, I would use my gained experience from the past five years to make it less frustrating to play, but without losing its musical quality. And I would definitely avoid using those cursed double hand jumps in 00:35.

Perhaps one day, I will make another crazy-level arrangement like this unravel again. But only time can tell whenever I am in the mood for it.

Well, thank you for reading so far, and I hope I can see you again in the next video.
    Until then -

We were traveling in Florence, Italy.
He joined street players after saying I'm a bassist and if I could play some.

In Korea, he played it with four strings but there were only three, which might make him play little bit hard but amazing.

The song they played, Autumn leaves, is jazz standard, which is the reason why they could play together right away.

I used Galaxy S6 edge to record this. (So many people asked about this)

  • Howls Moving Castle - Merry-Go-Round of Life

Howl's Moving Castle is actually one of the few major Ghibli movies I have not seen yet, but the music is amazing (as with any other Hisaishi song)!

My patrons voted for Merry-Go-Round of Life in June so I tried my best to get this done in less than two weeks. Sorry I missed June by a few days D:

This is hands-down the most difficult and longest cover I have done, which made recording a bit of a challenge. Despite a few flubs, I'm fairly happy with this! (I did do a perfect run once but my audio equipment stopped working halfway through that recording)

Here, I am referring to piano sheet music from here, but unfortunately it doesn't say who arranged it... if anyone knows, please let comment so I can give the arranger proper credit

If you would like to support me, don't forget to subscribe and check out my Patreon! Even $1 pledges are super appreciated!

  • Howls Moving Castle OST - Theme Song

  • Studio Ghibli Piano Medley

Joe Hisaishi is one of my favorite composers and his contribution to the world of Anime Music is nothing short but legendary. I have listened to almost every soundtrack from all the Ghibli movies and I decided to play 6 of my favorite Ghibli songs in one continuous piano movement. The main goal of this medley is to create a otherworldly atmosphere and make each transition between the songs as smooth as possible.

Compared to my usual arrangements, I tried to focus more on the melody this time and left out exaggerated embellishments, only adding an additional side melody if it complements the overall musical texture very well. I am still experimenting how to play multiple melody voices on the piano without sounding too cluttered.

On a side note, I am also very happy to hear that Hayao Miyazaki has took back his plans regarding his retirement and decided to continue producing new movies for Ghibli! I am definitely looking forward to his next movie!
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed the piano music.
