  • Should You Buy a Projector? - TV vs Projector

I receive a lot of questions regarding projectors and TVs so I decided to make a guide to clear up some questions in regards to projectors. There are pros and cons to both options but projectors provide a unique experience that a 4k TV can't provide. It's not possible to find a 100 LED TV for less than $8000 so in order to get a big screen, a projector is the way to go. Not only are modern home theater projectors bright and sharp, but budget 1080p projectors are often cheaper than most 70 mid-level LED TVs. This video gives an overview of the pros and cons of both technologies.

  • Choosing The Right Sized Projection Screen

What size projection screen should I buy is a question many enthusiasts ask themselves when deciding to make the leap from a flat panel display to a front projection setup.

We breakdown a few methods that help you to determine which size screen is going to be right for you and your room.

On my blog ( you can find more details and links to all materials and tools used.
In this video I show how I made my 132 projector screen for less than $80 in just a few hours. Once you have all the materials (blackout cloth, pine boards, etc.), it's quite simple and easy to get it done.
I have an Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 3010 projector which is set up on a 21' x 13' basement. The wall used to be our screen but I decided to get a real one. As I wanted something cheaper and fun to do, I chose to build it on my own. As the video shows, the results couldn't be more amazing!

  • DLP vs LCD guess who wins :)

Part from the show on tv, InFocus IN81 HD DLP vs Sanyo PLV-Z2000 LCD

  • Choosing a Projector: LCD or DLP?

Choosing a Projector: LCD or DLP?Today, when buying equipment for a home media centre more and more people are choosing projector as the image display device. There are several reasons for that. Firstly, it's the large size of the image which can be several metres wide. Secondly it's the compact size and low weight of the projector itself. Thirdly, a good projector costs about half as much as a 42'' LCD display or a PDP. It's easy to connect and easy to set up, it's compact and inexpensive - what else does an average customer need? Indeed, an average customer doesn't want to waste money. Projectors have many various features. However, one of the most important things is the technology used to produce the image. Today you can buy either an LCD or a DLP projector. LCD projectors use liquid crystal technology. They are somewhat like film or slide projectors. An LCD panel is used instead of film. A digital electronic circuit creates images on the panel. The light of the lamp goes through three panels, each displaying a colour, and a lens. As the result we can see a multifold-increased image on the screen.DLP projectors use digital light processing technology. Light is reflected from the surface of a special chip, about 15x11 mm in size. Several millions of microscopic mirrors on the surface of the chip form the image. Then light travels through a photic disk and a lens, and is finally projected onto the screen. Micromirror arrays are an example of the innovation technology. These are the so called MEMS devices or microelectromechanical systems. Both LCD and DLP technologies have their own advantages.LCD projectors produce luminous flux of high intensity and their image has good colour saturation.DLP projectors produce a high contrast image. Apart from that DLP technology is used to create ultra lightweight portable and micro portable projectors. Another advantage of DLP is the absence of screen door effect. In this case pixels in DLP projectors with SVGA resolution can only be seen if the image is zoomed in considerably. And the last point - the optical system of a DLP projector is sealed in a casing which protects it from dust. This type of design allows to avoid using filters in ventilation system. This makes cooling more efficient, reduces maintenance, and enhances durability of the device. But what about drawbacks? Unfortunately there is one big minus. DLP technology works perfectly for static images but if the image is moving and if the viewer is blinking or quickly moving his eyes between different parts of the screen, then artefacts may appear. The viewer will see a rainbow or colour flashes. Some people even complain about headaches and itchy eyes. Here everything depends on the individual peculiarities and perception of each viewer. So what do we choose? If you are choosing a projector for your home then you may choose a DLP. It has better contrast, its black colour is deeper and the whole image is smoother than in LCD projectors with the same resolution. But you should make sure that neither you nor any other potential viewers are susceptible to artefacts which are a side effect of DLP technology. To do this you simply need to watch how this particular model works.

  • The Best LED Pico Pocket HDMI Projector - Latest Review - 2021

The Best LED Pico Pocket HDMI Projector - Review -

If you haven’t jumped on board the projector train yet, you should definitely consider it. There’s something magical about watching your favorite TV shows on a larger screen, but not everyone can afford to do so. That’s why people everywhere are turning to projectors. Projectors are an easy way to get the screen size you want with the detail that you need for a price that you’ll love. Unlike big screen TVs that can cost thousands of dollars, nearly everyone can afford this projector. It’s an easy way to upgrade your space without spending a lot. No matter what you plan to use this projector for, it can handle it. Whether you are a gamer or you just like to watch shows, this projector will give you stunning detail and color. And maybe the best part of the whole thing is that you don’t need to worry about taking it with you. It’s portable, so it can go wherever you need.

    Best Features

The only thing that can make a projector even better is one that is small enough to fit in your pocket! This one does just that. Imagine having a projector that’s roughly the size of your phone. You’ll be amazed at just how much you can get done with such a small item! This projector has 25 lumens and high definition of 1280 x 720 p. The LED is 15,000 hours, so you can use it for quite some time. There is also an 80 minute built in rechargeable battery, and it can be charged with a micro USB cable. It has built in speakers and a ton of different connectors so you can hook everything up. You can get up to a 60 inch projection!

This portable projection is just $125, and it’s really easy to take with you. The small size is perfect to take with you everywhere you go, so you easily become the person everyone is calling! The projector is easy to charge and recharge. It’s also very easy to connect your different devices. The LED lamp is meant to last a very long time, so you might never need to replace it.

The downside of this projector is that the battery life is only 80 minutes, which probably wouldn’t get you through a whole movie. However, you can always charge it.

    Final verdict

If portability is your main concern with a projector, you really need this one. It is so easy to take with you because it is the size of your hand. It’s the perfect back up projector and makes a wonderful gift to those you care about.

What's up everybody? It's Bird from doing a review on the Brookstone HDMI pocket projector, full 1080P. Quick overview of what you get in the box, you get a HDMI to mini HDMI port, you also get the power adaptor, and then you get a little nice little satchel here to keep it in so it doesn't get dirty. And I'll go over a quick what the projector consists of and then I'll do a demonstration for you.

So the projector is here. You can see the size of it. Here's my phone. I got an Evo 4G LTE so it's about the size of my phone. It's a little more square obviously but it's a great little projector. It shoots a really good beam especially at night obviously. And then at the back of it you've got your audio out and then you've get a USB out and right there you've got your HDMI out and then your power adaptor there. The other thing is this is also holds about an hour and a half charge so you don't need to plug it in. So if you're going to be somewhere for like a presentation or something, you can just charge it up and then go from there which is a nice little option to have. And then on the side, you've got a focus button right there to focus your image, but it works great. And then you've got obviously power, sorry, on the side here. But it works great, I'll set it up, I'll try to get a day shot, and then a night shot. I'm just going to connect to my phone, put some Family Guy on so you guys can get a look at what it looks like during the day and the night, and we'll do that after this.

Alright. So I go the projector connect to my Asus TF300 tablet and you can see this is midday and you can kind of see I'm trying to get closer here to see what the screen looks like. I got Ski Safari up on the pad. You could see it probably looks a little lighter than it actually is. It's totally watchable right now. It's 3 o'clock in the afternoon here in Phoenix so it's fairly bright. I've got the shades dim but there not all the way shut. You get a good look. The other couple thing I want to show you on this was if you hit this button here, and with that button will do, if you can see that, it changes the mode and then you've got if you hit this button and it lights up. Light up, there you go. Lights up. So you've got volume up here and the volume down. Like I said, when you going to use it, you probably want to connect it to that jack right there, your audio jack. What I do is I connect my tablet or my phone to it and then use one of the jam box speakers to play the music wirelessly off the device and then just use this for the video. So if this is on the day. I'll you a little darker and see how much better it looks.

Alright. So here's the projector about 5 o'clock. The sun's not completely down. I don't have the screen size adjusted. It's probably running about 32 inches now and it's not square because I'm just doing this for this demonstration but as you can see, there's my couch. It's just on the wall about it. It looks pretty good. This is Ski Safari running on my Asus TF300 tablet. So here's the project here connected to the tablet and you notice there's no power cord. I'm just running off the battery, the 2 hour—let's say an hour and a half charge that it proclaims to have. So it's a great projector. It's the Brookstone Mini Pocket Projector. I'll show you the box here. That's what it is, the HDMI Pocket Projector. I highly suggest it, great little pocket projector if you need it. Business meeting if you want to take it somewhere camping and have a big screen video.

Gone are the days when projectors were this heavy and unportable monsters. Meet the new ASUS P1 Portable Projector, which is one of the many pico projectors in the market.

The device uses a DLP chip and the eco-friendly LED light source promises a 30,000 hour lifespan. The unit weighs just under a pound and this tiny machine manages to put out a native 1280X800 pixels resolution at a rating of 200 ANSI lumens, which is quite small when compared to other projectors.

  • Review: 3M MP220 Pico Projector

Sorry for a stutter-ish presentation, there was so much I had to get done, but here's my review on the 3M MP220 Pico/Pocket Projector, which includes putting the image quality to it's paces, in a dimly-lit, and well-lit room.
For the most part, the image quality depends upon your luck on the quality of the optics engine. In my case, straight from the box, the optics don't align right, and rattle. I didn't have to shake it, like in the demo, to notice it. This causes the image to be blurry in spots, or if you shake them into place, can get a fairly consistent, clear image, although not throughout (a little soft, but good enough).
Color quality is very robust, albeit a tad too high (no biggie). The greenish hue is from the fact that there are 2 green LEDs, for every 1 red and blue in the array. These alternate through the colors 60 times per second, so you may see a Rainbow Effect on fast video, or motion. It also may give people headaches.
Audio is drowned out by the loud cooling fan, at either 50 or 65 lumens (much louder at 65). It's also a tiny speaker, so of course, you gets highs, and upper mid-range. Lower notes are inaudible.
Video plays fairly well, and unlike how the camera shows it, very fluid, and reacts to quick changes. You will see the LED color cycles on said fast motion (which the camera registers as ghosty after images). Almost every color will show up in most lighting situations, within reason.
The projector also does presentations with Excel, Power Point, and PDF files, but depending on the format of tables and images, may show up wrong, or not at all. A good workaround is to screen capture a working image on your computer, and save it as a JPG file. Better yet, save them ALL that way, as it makes for a far easier presentation to begin with.
Connecting the projector to your computer with the USB cable is simple. Plug it in, hit the button on the display to turn it on, you get both Internal (the 2GB on board storage), and if a Micro SD is used, an external drive recognized as well. Find the right folders, or make them yourself, transfer files. It's quite easy.
Connecting different video components, on the other hand, not so easy. Setup isn't difficult at all, but finding the CABLES is difficult, and you usually have to dea with seedy people, to get hard-to-find ones.
You can get a VGA cable, no problem. Very responsive. Attache to the computer, display changes to the projectors 1024x600 resolution, and the same image is casted. There is a pointless headphone-style plug on the cable, for which I have no clue what it's for, as there's no audio input on the projector. Perhaps to a set of speakers (recommended for sound), but they'd have to be ridiculously close, as the length of that cable is extremely short.
It's a crap shoot. Depending on what you want, and how picky you are, you may want, or pass on this product. I plan on sending mine out for optics repairs before the warranty expires.

    The new AAXA Mini projector.
